The TLF team works across all common file formats including, XML, XLF, HTML, PDF, InDesign and Microsoft Office-based programmes. We also work with all software common to our business sector specialisms, including online survey platforms Confirmit, Qualtrics, Alchemer, Decipher and many more.

Desktop publishing (DTP)

For documents produced in design software, we have DTP expertise to ensure your translated files are PDF ready. File types include Adobe Illustrator and InDesign as well as online-only tools such as Canva.

Preparing your international projects for DTP

• Space allowance: will the languages expand or contract in translation? 
• Text direction: will the translation include right-to-left languages?
• Graphics: will any images, charts or graphs contain text to translate?
• Fonts: have I chosen fonts that exist in the target language?
• Layout adjustments: what adjustments might be needed to accommodate the previous points and the cultural preferences of the target market?
