We were approached on behalf of a digital marketing agency to translate their website. As the first point of contact for many potential clients, a website needs to represent the company and show them off in their best light. The English text was full of cultural mentions, humour and technical jargon – three of the hardest things to translate!
The first task for any project is to choose the right translators. We work with a team of freelance translators covering all languages and all subjects, so finding someone with the right blend of subject knowledge and style posed no problem. Due to the nature of the text, our translators had queries regarding replicating style and understanding jargon which we passed on to our client. Communication is a key part of our Project Managers’ daily life so queries were handled promptly and any information received from the client was shared with the other members of the team. For these particular language combinations, we were able to enlist the help of our native speaker PMs for the in-house quality checks, adding an extra level of checking to the website translation project.
The website translations we delivered to the client were then reviewed by their own native language employees. Communication channels were kept open in the event of feedback or changes to the work and we were available to advise on which changes would be suitable to implement, helping to avoid any typos or other mistakes accidentally being introduced by the reviewers. The website went live successfully and is now helping our client to target clients from the relevant markets, which in turn will increase global traffic to their website.
